Water Treatment System

EDI System

Electrodeionization(EDI) is usually considered as a water treatment technology that utilizes an electrode to ionize water molecules and separate dissolved ions (impurities) from water. The main difference from other water purification technologies is that it is done without the use of chemical treatments and is a tertiary treatment to reverse osmosis.
Low operating cost Energy‑saving & efficient Minimal maintenance No chemical waste discharge Stable long‑term operation Modular design Customizable capacity Compact footprint Fully automatic operation

Reverse Osmosis + EDI Combining technologies:

- EDI water treatment:
edi water treatment produce high-purity water by using electricity and ion-exchange materials to remove dissolved ions.
Unlike traditional methods, EDI operates continuously without chemicals, offering an efficient and eco-friendly solution.
This process is chemical-free and continuous, offering a reliable and cost-effective alternative to traditional mixed bed ion exchange systems.

- RO system:
Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems utilize pressure to force water through a semipermeable membrane to remove dissolved salts, contaminants, and impurities, thereby purifying the water.
The system typically includes pretreatment filters, a high-pressure pump, and an RO membrane, and may incorporate post-treatment steps to further enhance water quality.

  • Step1:Pretreatment (Multi-Media Filtration,Activated Carbon Adsorption, Softening)  --- Removes large particles, residual chlorine, organic matter, and hardness ions
  • Step2:Primary RO System --- Removes most dissolved solids through reverse osmosis membrane, reducing TDS
  • Step3:  Intermediate Tank --- Stores RO product water to provide a stable water source for the EDI system
  • Step4:  EDI System ---  Further removes ions using electric field and ion exchange resin to achieve ultra-pure water standards

Frequently Asked Questions

What is EDI System?

EDI (Electrodeionization) is a continuous deionization water treatment equipment placed after RO system. It removes dissolved ions to produce high-purity water without chemical regeneration.

What is the typical application of EDI?

Widely used for high purified water requirement: pharmaceutical water, cosmetic production, boiler feed water, laboratory water, high-end drinking water production.

What is the inlet water requirement for EDI module?

EDI inlet water is normally permeate water from single stage RO. - Inlet TDS: ≤ 20 ppm - Water temperature: 15~35℃ - Inlet pressure: 0.2~0.4 MPa - Hardness < 1 ppm (as CaCO₃) - Free chlorine: 0 ppm (no residual chlorine)

What water resistivity can EDI reach?

Under qualified inlet water, EDI produced water resistivity can reach 10~18.2 MΩ·cm @25℃.

What is the standard EDI system composition?

EDI stack, DC power supply, control cabinet, flow meter, pressure gauge, resistivity online monitor, valves & pipeline.

What material for EDI pipeline?

Product water pipeline: UPVC / SUS316L; frame: SUS304 stainless steel.

What brand EDI stacks can you supply?

Can provide well-known brands such as E-Cell, Ionpure, or domestic high-quality EDI stacks per client’s request.

What is the service life of EDI stack?

With proper pre-treatment and stable operating condition, EDI stack service life is 3–5 years.

Does EDI need chemical regeneration like mixed bed resin?

No. EDI works by electric field and ion exchange resin inside stack. No acid & alkali chemical regeneration required during normal operation

What is the power supply for EDI system?

Main control: 380V / 3Ph /50Hz; EDI stack uses dedicated DC power supply. Custom voltage available.

What routine maintenance is required?

1. Monitor inlet pressure, flow and resistivity daily. 2. Ensure RO pre-treatment works well, protect EDI from scaling and oxidation. 3. Clean EDI stack if pressure drop increases or resistivity drops obviously.

Can EDI run automatically?

Yes. PLC+touch screen automatic control, with interlock protection for low flow, high pressure and abnormal resistivity.

What certificates can be offered?

CE, ISO9001, material certificates. We also provide CO, commercial invoice, packing list for customs clearance.

What is the warranty period?

12 months warranty from shipment date (EDI stack, filter cartridges and consumables excluded). Lifetime technical support.
